FAQ

Common questions, straight answers.

Are the Rust and Minecraft servers online?

No. Both servers are offline while we build Tarnished Crown as a standalone game in Unreal Engine 5. Request early-development access. The remaining game information is archived from the Rust project.

What makes this different from vanilla Rust?

Tarnished Crown is a medieval RPG server. No modern guns, no vehicles. Instead you get 10 custom classes with unique skill trees and spell bars, 3 factions with territory control, enchanted loot drops, 8 world bosses, 25 quests, and 5 tiers of NPC difficulty. Your class level and skills persist across wipes.

Can I change my class?

Yes, type /class in chat. However, skill points and XP are tied to the class you earned them on — switching means starting from scratch on the new class while your old class retains its progress.

Can I change my faction?

You get one faction change per wipe. Use /faction to switch — but choose carefully, because you only get one chance. After the next force wipe, you can choose again from scratch.

When does the server wipe?

There is no upcoming server wipe while the servers are offline. The archived wipe information describes how the original Rust server worked.

How do I use spells?

Unlock abilities in your skill tree (/st). They appear in your spell bar at the bottom of the screen. Use /nextspell and /prevspell to cycle, then /cast to fire. Or type /bindspells to bind mouse buttons. See the commands page for details.

Are there guns?

No modern firearms. Bows, crossbows, swords, spears, and spells are the weapons of war. The Buccaneer class is the sole exception — pirates get access to primitive firearms (waterpipe, eoka, double barrel, nailgun).

Is this a PvP or PvE server?

Both — PvPvE. You can fight other players, raid bases, and engage in faction wars. But there are also 5 tiers of NPC enemies, 8 world bosses, and 25 quests for PvE content. The center of the map is the most dangerous for PvP.

How many players can join?

The original Rust server supported up to 50 players. The servers are now offline, and this is not a capacity announcement for the standalone game.

What's the server IP?

There is no active connection address while the servers are offline. Request access to the standalone game instead.

Do I keep anything after wipe?

Yes! Class level, XP, skill tree unlocks, class selection, and attribute points (STR/DEX/INT/CON) all persist. Faction resets — you choose again each wipe. Only the map, buildings, inventory, and quest progress reset.

What's the map size?

Map size is 3000. Three faction territories around the edges, No Man's Land in the center. Fresh seed each wipe.

How do I report a bug?

Type /report in-game or post in the #bug-reports channel on Discord.
